Abstract. The aim of this article is to analyze the trends in ownership structure and business model of European airports. The analysis covers the 10 biggest airports in Poland in a historical depiction as a consequence of deregulation and liberalization of aviation sector. Additionally the article presents  an operational depiction  as one of the restructuring forms which aims at transferring  the financial costs and risk connected with the extension of airport infrastructure to private sector.
